Grand Theft Auto V's religion is strangely close to Scientology
With Grand Theft Auto V arriving this autumn, Rockstar Games have given us an insight into the game’s religion: The Epsilon Program. You can expect Rockstar’s usual wit and cynicism here.
So what is The Epsilon Program? Well perhaps this little message – released with the video – will help you understand. "The Goals and the Pledge of Epsilon will continue to be revealed in due time. The Epsilon Program does not exist in just one time or place. We invite you to visit one of our enlightenment centers. Directions will be provided in one week's time." Yeah; you don’t understand it yet do you? That’s fine, it would be pretty weird if you did. Check out the video below.
We’re hoping The Epsilon Program has a big impact on GTA V - perhaps a crazed religious cult leader (no doubt subtly modelled on a certain miniature scientologist Hollywood hero) who forms an integral character in the game. Maybe the cult will unveil itself to one of our three playable characters (Michael, Trevor or Franklin) via the now infamous radio stations of the GTA universe. Who knows?
All we can guarantee is that Rockstar will do their best to offend whilst guaranteeing zero litigation. That’s the ethos. GTA V – possibly the most anticipated game ever – will be out in September for Xbox 360 and PS3, and will represent the franchise’s last outing on this generation of console.
