Girls Aloud put on a memorable performance in the middle of their reunion tour in 2024.

The pop band - which consists of Cheryl, Nadine Coyle, Kimberley Walsh and Nicola Roberts - arrived in Newcastle as part of 'The Girls Aloud Show tour in May and worked their way through some of their classic hits.

Emerging on top of four podiums, the girls opened with 'Untouchable' before going into 'The Show', 'Something New' and 'Biology' and pleased the crowd of 11,000 with the rundown of their classics.

Other favourites performed by the band included 'No Good Advice' 'Sound of the Underground' and 'Jump'.

At several points throughout the show, the girls took time to remember late member Sarah Harding - who died of breast cancer in late 2021 at the age of 39 - and her memory was honoured when her solo voice rang out in the finale track 'The Promise'.

Girls Aloud first found fame on the ITV1 talent show 'Popstars: The Rivals' in 2002, which, after winning, they went on to become one of the biggest girl groups in UK history.

The Utilita Arena marked a homecoming for Cheryl - who hails from Newcastle-upon-Tyne - and she broke down in tears in front of her home crowd, she recalled how she had no idea when she boarded a train from the locations station all those years ago to the first audition that it would lead to all this success.

She said: "I've been really trying to focus the best I could. I was doing well wasn't I? I don't think you could ever really know what it's like to be stood here, 22 years later, in a room full of Geordies. The place where I dreamed a dream.

"You know, when I left from Central 22 years ago, I could never have imagined being with you all tonight. So thank you from the bottom of my heart, for everything you've done. I left with a suitcase and a dream and I've come back with my best friends 22 years later!"
