Coogan was snapped travelling at 54 mph in a 30 mph zone in Brighton in October 2015.
British actor and comedian Steve Coogan has been banned from driving for a month after he was caught speeding in Brighton in October last year.
The 50 year old actor, behind comic creations such as Alan Partridge, pleaded guilty to driving at nearly twice the speed limit in the Sussex city on October 14th 2015. He was snapped in his £25,000 Mazda MX-5 SE sports car travelling at 54 miles per hour in a 30 mph zone, according to Sussex Police.
Coogan, thought to be worth approximately £7 million, was not present at the hearing at Worthing Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (February 24th), but he was represented via his solicitor.
Steve Coogan has received a 28 day ban from driving
He received a ban from driving for a period of 28 days and fined £670, with a further victim surcharge of £67 and costs of £85.

A spokesperson for the road safety campaign Brake spoke to The Sun after the punishment was handed down, and slammed the star for his actions. “Steve Coogan may be a big comedian, but this kind of behaviour isn't funny. He's not only putting himself in danger, but is sending a terrible message to all the fans who look up to him.”
It’s not the first time that Coogan has been up in court accused of a motoring offence. Back in 2012, he was acquitted of travelling at 39 mph in a 30 mph zone in a Range Rover.
The 2011 model car had been snapped in the same county, near his house in Ovingdean, and Coogan was given a fixed penalty notice. However, he proved that he had not been driving the vehicle at the time as he was dictating an article to The Guardian newspaper over the phone.
It transpired that a friend, visiting Coogan from Australia with her four year old daughter, had been driving the Range Rover at the time.
