First off, do not make the mistake of thinking 'Sausage Party' is a kids' film. This animated movie will likely put you off eating for life and will send your thoughts reeling to a place you never considered before. But what else can you expect from a comedy with Seth Rogen?

Sausage PartyThe groceries are far from celebrating in Sausage Party

Imagine if, like, food had feelings and, like, they really wanted to be picked at the grocery store but, like, they didn't realise they were going to be peeled, sliced, cooked and eaten. This was how we imagine Seth Rogen and his long-term writing partner Evan Goldberg came up with the idea for 'Sausage Party'. And, if this was something you had imagined before, we bet it never progressed to this extreme.

Frank (Rogen) is a weiner in a grocery store whose only wish is to be picked up and bought along with the other weiners in his packet. It's a dream come true when he is chosen along with his girlfriend Brenda (Kristen Wiig), a hot dog bun sealed among the other Glamour Buns, but little does he not what lies ahead at the buyer's home.

Everyone's thrilled to be released from their packaging, until they see what happens to their potato comrade. It's not a pretty sight. The fates of the lettuce, the cheese and, of course, the poor little baby carrots are no less brutal. The only ones left to tell the tale are the pantry staples like the sauces, but Frank knows he has to do something to save his friends.

It would be a pretty messed up flick if it weren't based around groceries. Saying that, it's pretty funny too with a cast featuring the usual gang including James Franco, Jonah Hill, Paul Rudd and Michael Cera who have previously appeared in Rogen/Goldberg releases such as 'Pineapple Express', 'This Is The End' and 'Superbad'.

Directed by Greg Tiernan ('Thomas & Friends') and Conrad Vernon ('Shrek 2'), 'Sausage Party' is set to be released in the US on August 12th 2016.
