Robin Gibb's son has become a father for the first time.

The Bee Gees legend's son Robin-John Gibb - also known as RJ - and his wife Megan Golub welcomed their son Maxwell into the world on Tuesday (16.07.13) at 5.50p.m. and admits it has made him miss his own father more than ever.

The proud new dad said: ''It is an incredible feeling becoming a new father. I wish my father was alive to see his first grandchild. He would be very proud, but I feel sure he knows about him.''

Robin passed away in May 2012 after losing his battle with cancer and his wife Dwina previously admitted news the couple's son was expecting his first child was bittersweet.

She said: ''When I lost Robin I wasn't expecting this. It's absolutely wonderful. Robin's mum Barbara is known as Nana Barbara, so I'd like my grandson, or granddaughter, to call me Nana Dwina. I can't wait to paint and draw for the little one.

''To welcome in 2013, we all went outside and wrote Robin's name in the sky with sparklers. I was thrilled about the baby, but sad that Robin wasn't with me to share the happiness.''

Dwina said Robin would have made an excellent grandfather, as he was so good with RJ when he was growing up.

She explained: ''He loved children. Grandchildren would have found him hilarious because he had a great sense of humour and made everything fun.

''He would have relished his role as a grandfather and been brilliant at it.''
