Armando Christian Pérez, (born on January 15, 1981 and known professionally as Pitbull), is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and businessman. Emerging from Miami’s vibrant music scene, he gained international acclaim with hits like “I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)” and “Timber.” Often referred to as “Mr. 305” and “Mr. Worldwide,” Pitbull is celebrated for his energetic performances and global musical influence.

 

Early Life and Background:

Born in Miami, Florida, Pitbull is the son of Cuban immigrants. His mother, Alysha, arrived in the United States in early 1962 through Operation Peter Pan, while his father, Armando, emigrated in the late 1970s and participated in the 1980 Mariel Boatlift. Raised in Miami, Pitbull developed a passion for music at a young age, influenced by the city’s rich cultural diversity. He attended Miami Coral Park High School, where he began to hone his musical talents. 

 

Music Career:

Pitbull’s music career began in the early 2000s when he signed with TVT Records and released his debut album, M.I.A.M.I. (2004), executive produced by Lil Jon. The album featured the hit single “Culo,” which garnered significant attention. He continued to build his discography with albums like El Mariel (2006) and The Boatlift (2007).

His fourth studio album, Pitbull Starring in Rebelution (2009), marked a turning point, featuring the breakout hits “I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)” and “Hotel Room Service,” which reached numbers two and eight on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, respectively. Embracing a more pop-oriented sound, Pitbull released Planet Pit (2011), which included the chart-topping single “Give Me Everything” featuring Ne-Yo, Afrojack, and Nayer. He maintained his momentum with Global Warming (2012), featuring hits like “Feel This Moment” with Christina Aguilera.

In 2013, Pitbull collaborated with Kesha on “Timber,” which became his second number-one single on the Billboard Hot 100. He also performed “We Are One (Ole Ola)” with Jennifer Lopez and Claudia Leitte, the official theme song for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Throughout his career, Pitbull has collaborated with numerous artists, including Enrique Iglesias, Usher, and Jennifer Lopez, contributing to his global appeal.

The agreement includes Pitbull creating an anthem for FIU, promoting the school on social media, and participating in fundraising events.
