With a short-lived but memorable career in pop behind him, Andre is already the bookies' favourite to win 'Strictly' 2015.
‘90s pop pin-up and TV star Peter Andre has agreed to take part in ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ next month, making him the seventh celebrity name to sign up for the BBC show.
The ‘Mysterious Girl’ singer announced the news on Wednesday (August 19th), and revealed that he has been asked to take part in the dancing competition before, but that other commitments have prevented him from taking it on.
Peter Andre is the seventh celebrity name confirmed for 'Strictly' 2015
“’Strictly Come Dancing’ is an incredible show,” he said. “I’ve always loved watching it on TV and, to be honest, I’m flattered to have been asked to take part before, but due to certain work commitments was unable to. I now feel the time is right to give it a go – everything has just clicked into place to do it this year.”
With his background in pop performance, he’s already the bookies’ favourite with another eight contestants yet to be announced. William Hill has made him the 9/2 favourite, according to the Daily Mail.

42 year old Andre revived his career thanks to taking part in another reality TV format, ‘I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here’ back in 2004. Though he didn’t win the series, it was where he met his future wife Katie Price, with whom he had two children and later divorced in 2009.
He’s been a frequent TV fixture ever since, and married his current wife Emily MacDonagh, a 24 year old medical student with whom he has a 16 month old daughter Amelia, last month in a wedding in Exeter.
Andre joins previously announced stars Carol Kirkwood, a BBC weather presenter, former ITV newsreader Katie Derham, soap stars Kellie Bright and Georgia May Foote, TV chef Ainsley Harriott and radio broadcaster Jeremy Vine. 'Strictly Come Dancing' returns to BBC One in September.
