Hans Zimmer is remaining tight-lipped on the plot details for Christopher Nolan's new movie 'Interstellar' because he and the director want audiences to be totally surprised when then see the film.
Hans Zimmer and Christopher Nolan won't reveal any details about 'Interstellar' before it is released because they want audiences to be shocked by what they see.
The composer has created the score for the highly-anticipated sci-fi movie but he is under strict instructions not to reveal any plot details, because the director is determined to avoid internet spoilers.
Speaking to BANG Showbiz, Zimmer said: ''Both Chris and I feel that we now live in a world where you're being given everything on the internet, you're given all these little bits of information and you can't ever come at something and be amazed and surprised anymore and take it in as an experience. The idea of actually having an experience is nearly gone and we work really hard on these films we certainly put the hours in and we try and make it as great as possible and we don't want to dilute it beforehand.''
The 57-year-old German musician has also delayed the release of the soundtrack because he wants people to hear his score for the first time in conjunction with the movie.
He explained: ''The normal form is you release the soundtrack two weeks before the movie comes out but this time I'm not going to do that I'm going to release it two weeks after the movie comes out because I want the majority of people to hear the music for the first time with the film. I want them to go and hear it on big speakers, I don't want them to hear it on their little computer speakers. It's not why I get up in the morning.''
Zimmer previously collaborated with Nolan on 'Inception' and 'The Dark Knight' trilogy and he considers the British movie maker to be one of the most impressive directors he has ever worked with.
He said: ''Working on 'Interstellar' was the best experience I ever had on a film, so I suppose that would mean he's my favourite director to work with. It was so great I'm actually going to take some time off from movies now ... We just work really good together and we have very similar sensibilities and I think the most important thing is that we're very supportive of each other. You sit there in this weird vacuum of having to make this movie and having all this pressure on you and we just try and protect each other from getting it wrong.''
Zimmer is performing his first-ever concerts in the UK at the Eventim Hammersmith Apollo this Friday (10.10.14) and Saturday (11.10.14).
'Hans Zimmer Revealed' will feature music from his entire career including the scores from movies such as 'Gladiator', 'The Lion King', 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' and Nolan's Batman franchise.
