'Cloud Atlas' is the story of how the separate lives of individuals and their actions affect each other through time. It explores a variety of different themes making it difficult to be pigeon-holed into a particular genre; action, romance and drama create the twists and turns that can change a human being from being a violent killer to being a compassionate hero. This tale explores how one act of basic humanity can influence a revolution centuries into the future.
This multi-layered movie has been adapted from the 2004 novel of the same name by David Mitchell. Directed and screenwritten by Tom Tykwer ('Run Lola Run'), Andy Wachowski and Lana Wachowski ('V For Vendetta'), not much information has been giving on how exactly the story will be arranged. If the novel is anything to go by, the film will see the beginnings of six separate stories which will be concluded one by one in the second half. The stories range from a nineteenth-century account of a lawyer at sea on the Pacific Ocean, to the life of a present day press publisher who has a run in with a gang, to a dystopian future in Korea where, according to the trailer, all the café staff have the same face. This mind-boggling flick can definitely be said to have something in it for everyone and is set for cinema release in 2013.
