Alex Reid has moved out of the marital home he shared with Katie Price.

The 35-year-old cage fighter - who was publicly dumped by the former glamour model last month - decided it was time to go after he received a solicitor's letter from his estranged wife informing him divorce proceedings were underway.

According to the Daily Star newspaper, Alex told a friend: "It's time to go, I have to protect my honour and dignity. That letter finally proved to me that Kate didn't want to be with me any more.

"It broke my heart but I know that it's time to get on with my life and let her get on with hers."

Katie - who has three children, Harvey, eight, Junior, five, and Princess Tiaamii, three, from previous relationships - was unable to legally begin divorce process until the couple had been married for a full year on February 2, the date of their wedding anniversary.

Alex initially refused to leave the 32-year-old star's home in Surrey, South East England, but eventually decided to leave "for his own sanity".

A pal added: "He is the most miserable I have ever known and has told us that he is at an all-time low. He needs to get out of there for his own sanity as well as Kate's."
