Elbow find it hard to concentrate on rehearsing for their tour because they are always "messing about".

Guy Garvey - the Manchester-based group's frontman - admitted while the 'One Day Like This' hitmakers used to be "really quite fascist" about people turning up late for band practice, it is now difficult to even get them all in the same room together.

He explained: "We used to rehearse a lot more. There's not really a distinction between writing and recording and rehearsing for us. I mean, in preparation for a tour, as we have been in the last few weeks, it's kind of all rehearsals. I'd say, if I was to be honest, probably about four hours a day max, yeah, because there's a lot of messing about.

"My tour manager says getting us all in one room is like herding cats, but yeah, that's a more gentlemanly pace as we've got older. We used to be really quite fascist about it If someone was 15 minutes late. For a couple of decades there, there'd be an argument if you were 15 minutes late."

However, Guy - who is joined in the band by brothers Mark and Craig Potter, Richard Jupp and Pete Turner - admitted he realised he had a lot of love for Elbow when they released fifth studio album 'Build a Rocket Boys!' earlier in the week.

Speaking on the Absolute Radio Geoff Lloyd Hometime show, he added: "It's just a really lovely feeling having the album out.

"Like it was my birthday the day before, so Sunday was my birthday, so I spent all day in the pub with my friends, and then woke up on Monday, fifth album out, it's a nice place to be when you're 37, and just spent all day texting the band love and feeling pretty good about myself."
