Singer Brian McFadden is calling on Irish lawmakers to legalise same sex marriage in his native country and grant "equal rights for all".
The former Westlife boyband star has thrown his support behind a campaign urging politicians to alter the Catholic country's strict laws to reflect modern attitudes towards sexual orientation.
In a post on his Twitter.com blog, he writes, "Legalize gay marriage. Come on Ireland. Let's join the 21st century!!!!!! Equal rights for all!!!!!!!!!!"
MCFadden's pal, Westlife singer Mark Feehily, came out as a gay man in 2005 and announced his engagement to longterm boyfriend Kevin MCDaid last year (10).
