Former BEATLE SIR PAUL MCCARTNEY is down to the final three in a search for Britain's greatest living icon. MCCartney is up against ex-SMITHS frontman MORRISSEY and veteran broadcaster SIR DAVID ATTENBOROUGH for the accolade, which is being presented by the BBC's THE CULTURE SHOW later this month (16DEC06). The result will be decided by a public vote. Refining the shortlist to just three eminent Brits saw DAVID BOWIE and SIR MICHAEL CAINE being ousted from the poll.
