Rod Stewart is being sued by a fan who claims he broke his nose when the singer kicked a football into crow during a concert in Las Vegas two years ago. Mostafa Kashe, from California, claims he was hit flush in the face at the Caesar's Palace show, leaving him with a "nasal cavity fracture."

Mr Kashe is claiming for damages of $10,000 for lost wages, legal fees and cosmetic repairs.

His complaint reads: "That actions of defendant Rod Stewart were negligent, careless, and/or reckless, and the soccer balls were kicked with sufficient force so as to potentially injure patrons of the concert."

It added: "Stewart has significant experience in the sport of soccer and experience in kicking soccer balls, having previously tried out for a professional soccer team in the UK and regularly playing in amateur soccer leagues since his youth.

"Stewart either knew or should have known that his actions could cause injury to unsuspecting patrons of his concerts."

Mr Kashe said he had to cut short his family vacation in Vegas due to the injury and continues to suffer from mental and physical pain that could be permanent. 

Stewart has been kicking autographed footballs into the audience for over two decades, saying it was a "must moment" in his shows. Many fans keep the balls as memorabilia. 

When one of TMZ's cameramen caught up with Stewart leaving Bouchon in Beverley Hills this week, the singer brushed off the lawsuit, calling football a "contact sport."

Stewart is a keen amateur footballer and had trials with Brentford FC after leaving school.
